A lot of people with Multiple Sclerosis get benefit from talking to others in the same boat. This isn't everyone's cup of tea but you can pick up lots of ideas from those who may be experiencing the same symptoms as you or who may have found a good way of managing their condition. It can also be good to just talk to others who understand what it is like to live with MS. We know of four "official" support groups in Moray but there are other informal networks:
Click on the links for more information or speak to the MS Nurse. The Moray MS Support Group meets every month at the Oaks in Elgin. For information about the Oaks click HERE . The next meeting is Friday 14th June 2013 . There will be a speaker on the theme of Short Breaks suitable for people with MS - so if you want to plan your next holiday or if you just want to have a chat with a bunch of friendly MSers do come along. All are welcome. The gathering is from 11.0am to 1.00pm This group is informal but has been meeting for more than three years. Initially set up by the then MS Nurse, Jon Gamble, it is now self-running. There are opportunities to share ideas, news and experiences and we often have speakers of interest to the group. Recent speakers have covered topics such as welfare benefits, hydrotherapy, acupuncture and bladder issues. This website is the brainchild of group members! The Group meets on the second Friday of every month from 11.00am - 1.00pm. If you want to know more about this group and whether it might be right for you, contact the MS Specialist Nurse. You can find the Oaks here.... If meeting on Fridays or during the day doesn't suit you, a group which met in the evening might be a good idea. If this attracts you contact the MS Specialist Nurse. You can also browse the Grampian Caredata website HERE for information about other relevant groups in the Moray area. |
