Exercise

Most people with Multiple Sclerosis know that they need to exercise, stretch and strengthen themselves. And most of us find that really difficult! It can be quite hard work living with MS without "volunteering" for more exercise by going to the gym or following a fitness regime.

However there is help available locally and once you get started it almost always get easier to keep it up.

A great ally in finding out what form of exercise is right for you is the Physiotherapy service.

The Moray Council also provide opportunities to get and keep fit. Their are fitness suites and gyms in Elgin, Dufftown, Forres, Keith, Buckie and Fochabers. Click HERE for the Council's website.

Swimming can also be of benefit to people with Multiple Sclerosis. Click HERE for details of local swimming pools.

A local MSer has found a great exercise class if your mobility is poor. Most of the exercises are done sitting down so it is particularly good for wheelchair users. It is held on Wednesdays 1.30pm - 2.30pm at the Holy Trinity Church Hall in Elgin at 5 Trinity Place near the Town Hall. The cost is £3 per session. If you think this might be for you call Sheila on 01340 831919 or Isabel on 01340 831908. Your physiotherapist or GP can refer you to this group or you can just refer yourself. Maybe you should give it a try?
