The Blue Badge Scheme is available to people with Multiple Sclerosis who have difficulty walking. This is a national scheme and those who are eligible receive a badge which is displayed in their car and allows certain parking privileges to make journeys easier. Those of you who are eligible for a Blue Badge should be prepared for more form-filling. The application process has been tightened up to combat fraud and it does mean more evidence is required in your application. It is a bit bureaucratic but stick with it because the scheme really does help if you have mobility problems. There is now a charge of £20 for the badge - you are invoiced once the badge arrives. Badges are usually valid for 3 years. In Moray the scheme is administered at the Moray Resource Centre, but managed by the Moray Council finance team. The Resource Centre is at: Maisondieu Road, Elgin IV30 1RX There is a special number for the Blue Badge Scheme: Telephone 01343 547589 - leave a message is there is no reply. |
