Out and About in Moray

posted 4 Apr 2012, 06:21 by Alan B.

Getting out and about in Moray is a joy but sometimes tricky if you have mobility difficulties. It is said that around 70% of people with MS have a problem with walking. Some have balance problems, some use one or two sticks, some use rollators, wheelchairs or scooters. Either way paths, steps and gates can get in the way of a good day out.

Some paths, trails and walks are easier than others and some have been developed with people like us in mind. On this website we plan to build up a record of places in Moray that are accessible to all. Watch this space!

To begin, local MSer, Neil, recommends the Torrieston all-abilities trail located between Miltonduff and Pluscarden.

There are three waymarked forest walks through Monaughty Forest from Torrieston. Torrieston Car park is around 3km east of Pluscarden Abbey (the only medieval monastery in Britain that still has a working order of Benedictine Monks). The all-abilities trail is across the road from the car park.
