November Update

posted 2 Nov 2012, 06:06 by Alan B.
For most of us with Multiple Sclerosis there few treatment options to cure or delay the condition. But there is a lot that we can do for ourselves and this website aims to signpost you to sources of information and support.

One thing that has helped a number of MSers is careful use of complementary or holistic therapies. The last meeting of the Moray MS Support Group heard a really interesting talk by Dr Cornelia Featherstone, a retired, Moray-based GP, on how holistic medicine relates to western orthodox medicine. The Moray Branch of the MS Society now offers financial help towards the cost of complementary therapies. Look HERE for more information. This a great help for MSers when the cost of trying to keep well becomes high. So do use this service. For more information about Complementary Therapies click HERE.

Another source of help can be sourced through the MS Specialist Nurse. A local, trained and experienced Counsellor is offering free access to Counselling for MSers who might benefit from talking to a supportive listener. Sometimes it really help to speak to someone when coping with the changes and losses associated with chronic, long-term conditions like MS becomes hard.

Finally, the next meeting of the Moray MS Support Group is Friday 9th November 2012 at 11.00am at the Oaks in Elgin. All are welcome. If you want to discuss whether this group is for you speak to Julie Williams the MS Specialist Nurse.
