Moving Up a Gear!

posted 17 Sep 2016, 07:56 by Alan B.
A lot has been happening in the MS world locally and we have been at the heart of it. Firstly - a date for your diary. October 28th will see a major event for anyone affected by MS in Moray.

Moray College in Elgin will be the venue for talks and discussion about the future of diagnosis, treatment and care for MSers as well as sharing ideas for improving awareness of the condition amongst the Moray population

Speakers are being arranged and will include John Finnie MSP and a researcher from the Ann Rowling centre in Edinburgh. The event is a joint project between the MS Society and the newly formed Moray MS Community (see below). More details will follow but if you would like to book a place now please contact Keith Park from the MS Society: Keith.Park@mssociety.org.uk or by calling 07554116108.

The Moray MS Support Group has been meeting at the Oaks in Elgin every month for several years. It is a friendly, informal group and is open to anyone affected by MS. It values its informality and lack of "bureaucracy". It has also recognised that a certain amount of structure is required if fundraising or campaigning for improved services is to be effective. So a few folk have agreed to "do the formalities" and set up a group with a constitution, bank account and elected officers! All of which means that good governance and accountability can support any campaigns we may want to pursue. The result of this work is the establishment of the Moray MS Community and this group now has its own Facebook page where ideas and news can be shared. Well done to everyone involved!

So you could say that the MS community on Moray have shifted up a gear in our pursuit for improved services and support for everyone affected by MS living in this part of the world! At MSMoray.net we will keep you informed of all developments so keep clicking!
