A Lot Happening Part 2

posted 12 Oct 2015, 12:24 by Alan B.
As I said in an earlier post there s a lot happening in the MS world. Both locally and nationally the MS Society is pursuing two important campaigns. Their MS: Enough! campaign is gathering speed and aims to push for a welfare system that is suitable to support people with fluctuating conditions like MS. In Scotland, with the possibility of welfare powers being devolved to the Scottish Parliament, there is a real opportunity to make a difference. You can find out more by going to the MS Society website and there is a petition to sign if you haven't already done so. Click HERE.

Another issue being pursued by the MS Society and by other MS organisations such as the MS Trust and Shift.ms is the follow-up to guidelines published by the Association of British Neurologists. This clarifies a new consensus on how Relapse/Remitting MS should be treated, in particular the offering of disease modifying drugs (DMTs), to those newly diagnosed much earlier than at present. This is very significant and locally the Moray MS Support group has begun to consider pressing NHS Grampian to explain how the guidelines are going to be implemented in our area. For more information about this new consensus click HERE.
